Flower Crab Spider

Thomisus blandus

Description:

Photographed this tiny little wild flower. Imagine my surprise when I looked at it on the computer and saw the 2 tiny crab spiders on it. I really need new glasses!!

I've finally received a batch of identifications from Ansie Dippenaar-Schoeman, who is the spider expert in Southern Africa.

Thanks Sukanya for your comment. Yes, they definitely match well... so well, I didn't see them till I looked on the computer! Pity, I would have liked to take more photos...

The translucent white legs of the spiders complement the translucent white of the stigma perfectly; made for each other: the crab spiders and this un-named flower. Thanks for posting it.

thanks Dan. Couldn't believe I missed the spiders when I looked on the computer. They must have been small as the flower was less than a quarter inch across...
