Tachinid Fly

Description:

Large spiny fly of the Family Tachinidae. The abdomen was metallic blue and the thorax a golden color. It was first seen in the droppings of a barn swallow nest, then moved to some rocks.

Habitat:

The barn swallows were nesting in the entrance to a school in a wooden box close to the roof. San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
