Heliconius elevatus
Heliconius butterflies are characterised by having a very delicate fluttering flight, particularly when hovering around flowers. They commonly nectar at Hamelia, Lantana and Palicourea.
tropical rainforest, amazon
Spotted this at Fin del Mundo, near Mocoa.
Thanks again Gerardo but I think this one is Heliconius elevatus as well. It could have been the same butterfly flying around.
Hi Dan this one also has a difference in the wings marks from the Heliconius erato.
Thanks for the ID Andreas and help Gerardo and Tiz. Thanks Nath, Jason, Carol and Rieko for the comments.
