Heliconius elevatus

Description:

Heliconius butterflies are characterised by having a very delicate fluttering flight, particularly when hovering around flowers. They commonly nectar at Hamelia, Lantana and Palicourea.

Habitat:

tropical rainforest, amazon

Notes:

Spotted this at Fin del Mundo, near Mocoa.

Thanks again Gerardo but I think this one is Heliconius elevatus as well. It could have been the same butterfly flying around.

Hi Dan this one also has a difference in the wings marks from the Heliconius erato.
