Yellow-billed Cuckoo

Coccyzus americanus

Description:

My 100th spotting! A common, but slow-moving and secretive denizen of woodlands, the Yellow-billed Cuckoo eats large quantities of hairy caterpillars. Its loud call is heard far more frequently than the bird is actually seen.

Habitat:

I spotted this bird on my farm in the woods next to prairie pasture and close to a pond.

Thanks Jemma! I was surprised when I learned what it was. I've never seen one before.
