Dictyopharid Planthopper

Scolops sp.

Description:

Green Planthopper nymph about 4 mm long with a long "nose". The tip of the nose has a black and white stripe to it along the edge. The eyes are orange and white stripes.

Habitat:

Coast Sage Scrub on the trail during a wildlife transect at Blue Sky Ecological Reserve.

Notes:

Yay! I finally found one after two years of searching!

Thank you beaker98! I was pancaked on the trail for this one. I was hoping to better capture the "nose" but was so giddy with excitement that I finally found a Scolops that I didn't pay attention :)
