Lactarius turpis

Description:

Shiny tan or olive domes depressed in the middle. About 150mm across. Golden gills decurrent to a rough, dark brown stipe.

Habitat:

Growing a very shaded areas under a mixture of exotic shrubs and trees in a local nature reserve.

Notes:

'Ugly milkcaps' Growing mixed with the next spotting Paxillus involutus. This one was also introduced to Australia and New Zealand.

Thanks Vlad. From what I've seen the corts seem to have mostly free gills? Do you know any with decurrent ones? I will get some better pics to add - I think there is more useful information possible here.
