Description:

Small olive-colored moth with bright pink on the lower wings. Flew much like a hummingbird moth does (very fast wing movement), and buzzed in flight.

Hawk moth indeed! I can't believe you were able to get such an energetic species on your hand! This moth's scientific name is a bit ironic. This moth feeds on the plant genus Galium, however the species name of this moth, gallii was misspelled when it was named, making this moth's common name often misnamed as Gallium Sphinx.
