Phelotis cognata
Very well camouflaged on a 'terrazzo' wall this little (25mm) wide moth was difficult to see.
Attracted to bright lights at a local school just after dusk.
Thanks J for this ID - don't know how you do it. This one feeds on Exocarpus species - Exocarpos cupressiformis (Cherry Ballart) is common around here. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/130... Family: Geometridae Tribe: Boarmiini Genus: Phelotis Species: P. cognata http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b...
You are very welcome, sorry, I failed to post my link, traveling with a small screen. :-) Thank you so much for the compliments.
You're amazing Jakubko !! I didn't think this one would be found. You might be right about the size.... I'll check my notes and everything else tomorrow... it's too late here... thanks heaps :)
Please verify! The wingspan of this moth is usually about 25 mm, so 15 mm might suggest another species.
