Description:

A very handsome, large mushroom - 180mm tall; 120mm wide; cap conical domed smooth, lightly fibrulose, pale bronze; gills simple, crowded, detached, pale pink; stipe straight, fibrose, white, with remains of volva.

Habitat:

Inner suburban growing from introduced woodchip mulch in a sports park.

Notes:

Volvopluteus as of 2011. Other genus names include the use of Agaricua, Amanita, Pluteus, Volvaria, Volvariopsis, Volvariella. This one has obviously given taxo people a hard time over the years!
