Northern waterthrush

Parkesia noveboracensis

Description:

This bird has chocolate brown, jagged streaks down its neck and along the top of its belly. It's also got a cream streak above its eye. The rest of the plumage is solid brown and its legs are orange. The beak is brown and short.

Habitat:

Rocky end of the stream, surrounded by temperate forest.

Notes:

These birds were quite noisy around dusk and were hiding in the rocks, possibly nesting there. They seemed very at home near the flowing water.

5picklefamily, please look at range maps before you suggest an ID. The Paddyfield Warbler is found in Asia. This looks like it might be a Waterthrush, but I can't see it close enough to tell.
