Solanum ptychanthum
Erect branching plant. Leaves are elliptic or triangular with some toothing. Stems are slightly haired (looks somewhat velvety, see picture 5). Flowers are small, white and star shaped. Flowers turn into small, shiny black berries.
Suburban backyard.
Native to Eastern North America. Considered an invasive weed in most places and is very hardy. Ripe berries are apparently edible, as well as boiled young leaves and stem tops but in general this plant should be considered poisonous.
