Tree Bark Jumper

Laufeia perakensis

Description:

A species of jumping spider from the Laufeia genus which very little is known about. A 7mm in length, possibly female. This Laufeia species have a pair of large posterior eyes, which is facing up and larger compared to other genera. This is because these posterior eyes are evolved to see better horizontally for predators while it's anterior median eyes are looking vertically down the trees for preys climbing up the tree. This species is common on trees with peeled barks.

Habitat:

Lives on tree barks around Sukau Bed&Breakfast, Sukau, Lower Kinabatangan river, Sabah.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy: 40m diameter. Better photographs of this species from my father except wrongly identified as an Evarcha species in the link http://wongchunxing.com/Spider/JumpingSp...
