Arrowleaf Balsamroot

Balsamorhiza sagittata

Description:

Small flowering plant, approx 6" high. Leaves are long cordate shaped covered whit white hair. Flowers are yellow with yellow-orange centers.

Habitat:

This one grows in rocky, dry soil along a trail. Central Utah mountains approx 6800'.

Notes:

Many of the flowers were mutilated, not sure the cause. Looked like maybe animals/insects trying to eat them.
