Aechmophorus clarkii
A ducklike (but not a duck) waterbird. long neck, head crown black. The Western Grebe has a black neck as well, so I'm pretty sure this is Clarke's Grebe. Conformation is appreciated.
It was swimming upright, then diving beneath the surface to catch fish.
