Mallard duck

Anas platyrhynchos

Description:

The male mallard, or wild, duck is easily distinguished by its bright green head (appears purple in some light), gray and white body, and bright blue areas on the back of its wings where flaps would be positioned on most airplanes. Together with their bright orange "landing gear," they are a beautiful sight, especially when coming in to land on water.
