Cross Orbweaver

Araneus diadematus

Habitat:

Garden, dead branch and flower heads of a Buddleia shrub. I cannot overstate the importance of a MESSY yard to support wildlife, of course it is a Goldylocks zone, not too messy but just messy enough. I was reaching out to "trim" and "make neat" my Buddleia shrub when this gorgeous orbweaver scooted across the dead branch i was just going to remove and took refuge in the dead leaves. Her colors are PERFECT and blend right in. She is well under 0.5 cm but still is very wary and took cover when i moved nearby.
