Congratulations Diego, this beautiful tegu lizard has earned your a Spotting of the Day! It's only the second spotting for this species on Project Noah.

"The largest species of tegu lizard, this beautiful Argentine black and white tegu (Salvator merianae) is our Spotting of the Day! Tegu lizards are members of the family Teiidae, and are native to Central and South America. Tegus resemble the monitor lizards of Africa, Asia and Oceania, and fill in similar ecological niches. Salvator merianae is named in honor of naturalist and scientific illustrator Maria Sibylla Merian".
