Salvator merianae
A medium size lizard, it can reach a meter in lenght. It is very common in Buenos Aires, specially in the shore of the rivers of Delta del Paraná, In this case, this Salvator merianae was almost 60 cm in lenght. The skin is dotter by black and white marks. They use their tongue to smell the air. It belongs to the family Teiidae, Order Squamata.
As they area of cold blood, are more active during spring and summer. Live near swamps and whater bodies.
