Hypsiboas boans
fairly large frog, could fill the palm of my hand
amazon
I spotted this just as we came back from a night hike. This frog was on a small bridge near Tupana Aru reserve lodge.
Thanks, I appreciate the ID's. I think I have a few more to post. However, I just checked my spottings and still have about 20 spots of amphibians without ID to challenge you with. Good luck!
Yea, they just recently changed the Genus. All of your tropical frogs give me a nice challenge, I enjoy them! So keep uploading them :)
Nevermind, now I see this was called Hyla boans, so I think we are in agreement, thanks again Ashley.
Thanks again. I think you're right. The possible ID I found for this was Hyla boans, also called the gladiator tree frog. Is it related to this? Did the genus change names?
Also called the Giant Gladiator Frog. Please confirm! I'm fairly certain about this, but not positive :)
Color is a bad thing to look at in amphibians, it varies a lot based on temperature. I'll look for it now though :)
Thanks Ashley, you're right, I didn't notice the webbing before. I've searched for flying frogs but don't see anything like this. Most of them are green.
I don't have time to look for an ID for this guy right now, but look at flying frogs. Normal tree frogs don't have webbing in between the toes on the front feet like that. There shouldn't be too many flying frogs, so hopefully you can find it!
