Red-shouldered Hawk

Buteo lineatus

Notes:

While this hawk was sitting in a tree, a few different kinds of birds were dive-bombing it. I was able to get a Red-winged Blackbird in the same picture, but all the others went by too fast for me.

Jamie if you think red-winged blackbirds are protective, don't go near a tern nest. They will actually hit you in the head with their sharp bills.

I saw this happen today at green cay wetlands. The redwings were chasing everything from egrets and stilts to people… yes I did get dive bombed by an angry parent even though I didn't mean to make them angry.
