Description:

The Wood Duck is a medium-sized perching duck. The adult male has distinctive multicoloured iridescent plumage and red eyes,with a distinctive white flare down the neck. The female, less colourful, has a white eye-ring and a whitish throat. Both adults have crested heads.

Habitat:

This duck is native to America but has also been introduced in Europe where can be seen in ponds, lakes and rivers.

Really? I saw many in the wild when I lived in Massachusetts. May be in the West coast they are less abundant. The cool thing is that they nest in trees and the babies jump out of the tree hole to follow the mother to the water :-)
