Rothschildia triloba
This moth was bigger than my hand...
. Between 2528 and 3850ft (766 and 1167m) in primary pre-montane Caribbean slope rainforest in the Cordillera Talamanca, Costa Rica.
added a new photo to show the size. Unfortunately I had the wrong settings on my new camera so the photo didn't come out so well, to say the least!

thanks Reiko, and yes C.Sydes, it looked so huge when it flew in... pretty exciting!
Saturniidae, Saturniinae, Attacini, Rotschildia sp., it is either Rothschildia orizaba or Rothschildia triloba. What was the exact altitude you found this one?
