Spanish Moth

Xanthopastis timais

Description:

These moths are easily identifiable by their pink wings with black markings and the fuzzy appearance of their head.

Habitat:

The Spanish Moth is a lowland species of moth that can be found in altitudes ranging from 0-800 m. Although the Spanish Moth is commonly found in Florida, its habitat ranges from Florida to New York and from Kentucky to Texas in North America. The Spanish Moth can also be seen throughout Mexico, Central America, and South America (such as Brazil).

Notes:

I also used bugguide.net as a reference for information about the Spanish Moth (spotted by Alayna Clemmons)

Honestly,

I have never seen a moth that looked quite like this. This one has distinct coloration that I didn't realize was common for these species.
