Prickly Pear

Opuntia sp

Description:

A large group of cacti growing together. The pads are flat with spines coming off of all sides, and the fruit is a bright purple/red.

Habitat:

Found growing on a rocky slope in Palo duro canyon state park. There was a lot of prickly pear around, but this one had the prettiest fruit so I took its picture
