Praying Mantis with Widow Skimmer

Description:

Praying mantis eating dragonfly.

Habitat:

City owned retention pond.

Notes:

I thought I was just taking a picture of the widow skimmer. It was not until later, when I went back through the photos, that I saw the praying mantis. Through the view finder it simply looked like a piece of the grass. Imagine my surprise when I saw it was not only grasping the dragonfly, but was eating the head.
