Idaea biselata
Balcony, attracted from surrounding countryside by night light.
Who is to say that those reports I linked to are accurate. Where did they source their data? Nowadays a lot of researchers use the internet but from my experience the internet contains a lot of errors and assumptions. A lot of pictures are taken from Flicker and suchlike but when I look at birds on there I see a lot of wrong identifications. I could go on.
Sorry to make you work hard Malcolm :-) Eol maps are sometimes not complete, as in missing a country, but in this case the species seems to be missing from the whole south of Europe.
I think this one may be closer: Idaea cervantaria
Not exact but the nearest of several similar ones.
These are both for Portugal but they do show it. Don't know how reliable they may be.

I just read the Wiki which said it was common throughout Europe! And I'm one of those who doesn't trust Wiki! Will do some more checking.
Malcolm, I am not familiar with this species, but I have noticed that the eol map in the link does not show it in Spain.
