Apple Looper (Male) -2

Phrissogonus laticostata

Description:

A handsome moth with a wing span of 15 mm. Wings had wavy patterns of grey, brown and white. The base of the costa is drawn out into a tuft on either side, giving it a wide-shouldered appearance. This is seen only in males of the species.

Habitat:

Spotted near a suburban garden. Caterpillars feed on flower buds of several species of plants including Rosaceae and Asteraceae.
