Xylobolus illudens

Description:

Small inverted cups like bracket fungi but hollow. The outer surface made up of concentric rings of rough hairs. The inner surface was white, very smooth, no sign of pores, pink margin. Each was about 15mm wide.

Habitat:

State forest; dry sclerophyll eucalyptus; on a long dead eucalyptus branch.

Notes:

Amazing !! As it turns out this is another form of a Stereum which appears as a much larger resupinate sheet with purple tints. I found that one several months ago... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/307... Previously known as Stereum illudens
