Strix uralensis
This is Gilfie, an ural owl that lives in captivity and forms part of a raptor flying exhibit, here in Belgium (http://www.uilenhof.be/old/). These are medium-large nocturnal owls. Pale, grey-brown plumage, with dark brown streaking on the back, back of the head and underparts. It has a round head with plain buffish-grey facial discs, orange-yellow bill and small black eyes. The tail is long and wedge-shaped, with dark barring on the uppertail, and the wings are rounded.
Different subespecies in Europe and Asia.

Beautiful!!
Thanks Maria! for me is one of the most beautiful owls I have ever seen :-)
Beautiful series
You are welcome! I will post more raptors soon :-)
Thank you so much Marta, for the info. And, hoping to see more lovely owl photos soon.
Thanks Namita! They call them from different places while offering bits of food and this way they can show the birds in flight. I think they may also have educational exhibits and a breeding program. I will post a few other birds in the same exhibition later.
Lovely owl spottings Marta, all three of them are really lovely. What do they do with them in these exhibits?. Sorry, I have never heard of it before.
Thanks for liking this beauty! Yes, I agree, Sintija, the shape is much alike :-D
