wood-decay fungus

Description:

Don't even know if it is an organism or a man-made foam... It was about 30 cm long but it was difficult to tell since it was high up on a tree. From my recent studies I think this is a wood-decay fungus, but to recognize the species I should remember what species the tree was.

Habitat:

Villa park with abundant presence of trees

Not very healthy... it was full of holes the park managers had covered with grids to prevent birds from nesting inside

Amazing thing! Maybe tree species might give a clue. Did the tree look healthy?
