Paropsis maculata
This bright gold and red leaf beetle was well hidden on a dead gall on Eucalyptus.
On a young eucalyptus in state forest on an inspiring mountain climb (me, not him)
I did not expect to find this brightly colored species. It appears that 4 of 29 sightings in ALA occur in Victoria so we can expect to find more of these. http://biocache.ala.org.au/occurrences/s...

Wonderful series of this colorful beetle!
This is a great season for wildlife Stephen. I have photographed over 50 of the 3000 different Australian species of Chrysomelidae so there's still a long way to go.
Very nice beetle!
Nice beetle, some good finds happening!
Thanks Mark.
This group has become my favorite
