northern ring neck

Diadophis punctatus edwardsii

Description:

I found a baby northern ring neck snake in my garage

Habitat:

Mothers nest the babies in rotten wood. Adults can become up to 2 feet long

Notes:

Very small, smaller than a pencil and maybe 4" long. Bluish black, yellow ring around neck. At first I thought it was a skink lizard's tail (they can drop their tails when stressed) because they were also living in my garage but then I saw the yellow band.
