Cyclochila australasiae
This one has not quite dried out it's wings from coming out of it's shell. We used to call this one a Green Grocer when we were kids.
Backyard on the ground.
Thanks Mark. Could well be leaning towards a Blue Moon. Will pay more attention next time and get more photos.
Really Mark! I must look up a Blue Moon and see what it's like. I just thought Green Grocer straight away!
I agree about the earliness. We've had them for almost 3 weeks now and in Melbourne it used to be never before late November. This one is showing hints of being a Blue Moon in the wing venation?
Heaps here too. Holes all over the place where they have emerged. I was thinking it was a bit early for them this year, They are usually closer to Christmas.
In big numbers up there or has the hot dry slowed them down? We've got heaps.
