Red Wolf

Canis rufus

Description:

Tip of tail was black. Size/height cause me to think it was all of 50 lbs, making it less likely to be a coyote, I think. [If this is a Red Wolf, it appears to be the first ever sighting of a wild Red Wolf posted to this site. There are less than 40 left in the world.]

Habitat:

river refuge/swamp

Notes:

Critically endangered. Less than 40 left in the world! May go extinct in our lifetime.
