Noble False Widow Spider

Steatoda nobilis

Description:

This is a small spider, just under a centimeter. It's reddish brown with a design on it's abdomen that vaguely looks like a black widow spider, but not really.

Habitat:

This spider has taken up residence in my kitchen. I'm a little concerned since it does bite but it's not currently in my way.

Notes:

This spider is from the Canary Islands but has spread to much of Europe and within the last few years, to California.
