Description:

Adults are blue-gray above with barred underparts and a dark head with thick sideburns. Juveniles are heavily marked, with vertical streaks instead of horizontal bars on the breast. Despite considerable age-related and geographic variation, an overall steely, barred look remains.

Habitat:

Hunting Caye on Belize Barrier Reef.

Thank you for the id, Liam.
When I first spotted this bird in the distance, from the deck of a rocking boat, I thought it was an osprey. When I got a better look at the photos, I realized it wasn't, but could not decide just what it was. I appreciate the help.
