Sylvicola dubius
A small gnat about 8 mm long with brown head and thorax. Wings had dark bars but were otherwise clear. Eyes large and the short antennae had a two-toned (brownish yellow) scape.
Spotted near suburban gardens, under bright lights.
This gnat had a unique resting posture, propped up on its long front leg. http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b... Order: Diptera
