Unidentified Salticidae
When I take pictures of Jumping Spiders, I always like to get a shot of those big eyes and that is what I did, this morning. I know that details of the colours and markings on the dorsum are much more helpful for identification purposes, but the spider looked quite calm and settled. So, I went for the "eye shot", thinking that I might not have another chance of that view, if I alarmed him and I was absolutely right. I clicked the camera shutter and the jumper did what jumpers do. He jumped and I did not see where he went. My pursuit of the beautiful, but rather useless eye shot, cost me dearly. I did not manage to get a proper frontal view and the eye shot is not a great success, as can be seen. However, I think that there is still a possibility of an identification from the little marks which can just be seen on the rear part of the dorsum. I am reminded of that wonderfully colourful American expression, which encourages us all to keep trying - "It's not over until the fat lady sings".
Spotted in the farm on a Mango Tree (Mangifera indica Linn.) locally known as Mangang-kalabau. Plant information from - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Mangga.html.................
