A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Hymenocera picta
Harlequin shrimp, is usually cream colored or white with occasional spots, they reach about 5 centimetres in length, live in pairs and feed exclusively on starfish. It does seem to prefer smaller, more sedentary starfish, but if it is not sufficient for its needs, it will attack Acanthaster, both reducing its consumption of coral while under attack, and killing it within a few days. When it comes to males and females, the females are larger and have colored abdominal plates unlike the males.
It is found in Indo-Pacific below the intertidal zone on coral reefs.

You are welcome Marek, please dont forget to only add to the 2019 Best Wild Photo mission, spottings that have interaction between species,ok?
Thanks António, I did change Mission for this spotting, I like very much idea about interaction between species. It brings spoting to another level.

I presume that your other recent spottings are also in the 2018 mission, the better is to change them to the 2019 mission, when you have time,so they can be enter in the final choices for this year, this spotting is perfect to this year mission theme:
" this year we wish to bring attention to the “N” in Noah (Networked organisms and habitats), and we want you to emphasize interactions between species."
Thanks for sharing your amazing nature encounters with us all
