Colotis hetaera
Colotis hetaera, the Eastern Purple Tip, is a butterfly in the Pieridae family. The butterflies are very active, and only tend to settle early or late in the day when temperatures are low. When basking or nectaring, the wings are usually held in the half open position. Adults have a fast flight.
Open grassy tropical area beside a river. This is a savannah species, but can occasionally be found in large clearings in the drier forests.
There seem to be 2 sub-species in Uganda, Colotis hetaera ankolensis and Colotis hetaera aspasia. But I couldn't find much out about either.
