Description:

Very interesting plant, for a long time I kept looking its' ID under lichens. Roundish plaques on tree bark, very-dark-brown or black and scaly.

Habitat:

Found in a broadleaved forest growing on steep slopes of Bauges massif, French Prealps.

I think this is actually a liverwort. I have a similar observation here: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/13... where you can see some closeups of the scaly nature of its growth.
