Common Pathfinder

Catuna crithea

Description:

I guess this was a fairly common butterfly in Uganda. This was the 3rd place I saw it.

Habitat:

On a dirt road that ran through the center of Kibale forest. Here patches of sun penetrated the forest and there were many butterflies.

Notes:

Kibale National Park (pronounced Chibale) is a national park in South Uganda protecting moist evergreen rain forest. It is 766 km² in size and is located between 1,100–1,600 meters in elevation. Kibale is one of the last remaining expanses to contain both lowland and montane forests. In East Africa, it sustains the last significant expanse of pre-montane forest.

thanks bayucca. Strange! I did name it, but it seems to have disappeared in the saving. I have been having a bit of trouble with PN the last couple of days... Either that, or my brain is fried from the heat here in Tamil Nadu. No rain this season so far!
