Killdeer Chick (With Adult)

Charadrius vociferus

Description:

A little Killdeer Chick following it's parent around. There were 6 chicks all together. Every time the parent would stop somewhere, all the chicks would try and get underneath her. In one of the photos, you can see all 6 chicks laying in the grass after the mother stood up and moved walked away.

Habitat:

Along the road / driveway of the local Botanical Gardens. One side of the road is a grassy field and the other is a small pond.

Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!

It's adorable!
