Western Grebe

Aechmophorus occidentalis

Description:

Black face, cap and back of neck. Eyes are red and bill is a yellow-green and pointed. Front of neck and below the eyes is white. Back is a dark brown. Body is elongated.
Behavior and unusual look for this maybe part of a courtship with another Grebe. A Clark's Grebe was near and it shared fish with the Western Grebe.

Habitat:

Found in the SF bay.
