These Manatee were injured so they are now at the Zoo, many have visible scars on their backs from boaters who ran them over, they are slow moving and cannot swim very fast. Vegetarians, manatees are mammals who nurse their young.

Well, you may have the West Indian Manatee (Trichechus manatus) or you may have the subspecies Florida Manatee (Trichechus manatus latirostris).
