Definition of arthropod - "Any of numerous invertebrate animals of the phylum Arthropoda, including the insects, crustaceans, arachnids, and myriapods, that are characterized by a chitinous exoskeleton and a segmented body to which jointed appendages are articulated in pairs." So by definition crabs, lobsters, crayfish etc. are arthropods, other marine invertebrates as well as slugs, snails & worms are not! Beautiful spotting by the way!
Beautiful photo. Perhaps with time Project Noah will be able to add more categories, but I see nothing wrong with maintaining the spotting as unknown for the time being. After all, Project Noah is using a marine invert to represent unknown spottings.
Dear Ashish, I don´t agree with you but with Noe and Pili´s comment above. I know that a nudibranch is invertebrate, I am a biologist and zoology was part of my training. But as is stated above, the distinction Other is for animals that are not insects and land invertebrates.
Welcome to Project Noah. We will be improving our classification system in the future so please bare with us. Right now, the "Invertebrates" category is a big category that covers everything from insects and spiders to other species lacking a spine. Some people are adding marine invertebrates to this category as well even though ideally we would put those in the "Other" category.
I would suggest that you add your octopus to the "Other" category.
Since they use Other category with a starfish sign and echinoderms for example are therefore in this category I prefer to leave the nudibranch in this as well. I don´t want to mix with invertebrates where all insects, and aracnids go. For underwater animals other than fishes I prefer the Other category.
It has very similar features to Phyllids, which is what made me hesitant at outright IDing it as a flatworm! Yeah, I hope we can ID this one, it's gorgeous!
This is a tough one, because I initially thought flatworm, but then I thought it also looks like the nudibranchs of the Phyllidiella genus. Beautiful find either way though! Let's see if we can ID him :D

Thanks Karen :-) It was a long debate some time ago about this but I definitely will never put a nudibranch as arthropod, that for sure :-)

Thank you all for this useful discussion. I've reclassified my few marine invertebrate critters as "others".
Please use "Other" for marine invertebrates (even if it's not strictly correct).
Very colorful critter.

I use the Other category too for sea life because people from project Noah told me:

Marta This is Invertebrate spotting. Many your followers will follow this Other category for their invertebrate spotting.
Oh excellent, I'm glad you ID'd this guy! What a wonderful name too :D
You were almost right. It is Phyllidia ocellata. They have variable patterns, that is why I could not recognize it. Thanks!
It has very similar features to Phyllids, which is what made me hesitant at outright IDing it as a flatworm! Yeah, I hope we can ID this one, it's gorgeous!
Hi Laura, thanks for helping :-)
It does not look like Phyllidiella. I hope we can find an ID eventually :-)
