Sea goldie or lyretail coralfish

Pseudanthias squamipinnis

Description:

Like other anthias (Anthiinae) the sea goldie is a protogynous hermaphrodite; a male retains a harem of 5-10 females, but when the male dies one of the females will undergo sex reversal and take the place of the missing male.

Habitat:

Coral reefs of the Red Sea. I think these pics are from Ras Nasrani, where big coral boulders can be seen. But the Anthias are everywhere where there is coral reef in this area of the Red Sea.
