Snail Killing Fly

Description:

Really weird fly with elongate eyes. The head is triangular shaped and the antennae have very long arista (best seen in the last picture). 4 mm long. Family Sciomyzidae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Notes:

Maybe a Grass Fly, Chloropidae http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/156... or a Sciomyzidae. Still looking…...The head looks like a Neriidae, but the wings look like Sciomyzidae (and wing pattern always wins): https://www.google.com.mx/search?hl=es&a...
