Townsend's Solitare

Description:

A long-tailed gray bird of the high western mountains, the Townsend's Solitaire descends in the winter to lower elevations where it feeds almost exclusively on juniper berries. Cornell Lab

Habitat:

Found at Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin FL, near the coast in a weedy area with standing water.

Notes:

The bird is far out of range. The is only the second recorded sighting of Townsend's Solitaire in FL.
