Pattern is quite variable. Males usually have black antennal knobs. Upperside is orange with black borders; postmedian and submarginal areas are crossed by fine black marks.

Habitat:

Spotted on the edge of a meadow adjacent to a deciduous forest at Pratt Nature Center.
