A newly cultivated allotetraploid species with no natural range. It was created from a cross of scarlet creeper and cypress vine. Birds and butterflies are attracted to the red flowers.

This one of the rare true inter-specific hybrids between Ipomoea quamoclit and Ipomoea coccinea.
